Welcome

Welcome to the first ever salvage community, your source for salvage management information.
No matter what industry you are in, you can be affected by loss; loss of money, loss through depreciation, loss of value and the loss of stock, assets or merchandise as a result of an insurable event. Most businesses attempt to hedge against loss proactively. These businesses install sprinkler systems and burglar alarms, buy insurance policies and more. Unfortunately, these measures are not enough to guarantee complete protection against loss so businesses must consider a way to hedge against the impact of the loss after it occurs. Therein lies the benefit of salvage management. With salvage management, you don’t get a hedge against risk; you get a solution after you have experienced it.
Theft, natural disasters, and fire can result in hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost assets to your company. Once a claim has been paid, there is nothing left but damaged goods, burnt buildings, and seemingly unusable parts–nothing but salvage. While the salvage might not serve its original intended purpose, does that mean it is worthless? Or is there some alternative use for the salvage left after a disaster that can result in the recovery of some portion of the loss?
It doesn’t matter if the damage was a result of fire, flood, or earthquake, the debris left in the wake of the disaster can retain market value that represents up to 35% or more of the value paid in claims by the insurer. Imagine how this system of asset recovery can completely change the business model for your company.
At SalvageManagement.org, you will learn what is salvage management, who are the professionals who manage salvage and how, how the sale of salvage works, the value it can add to your company, and some tips for reevaluating the value of your salvage. The purpose of this community is to bring together professionals and businessmen including insurance companies, salvage buyers, manufacturers, traders, salvage management professionals, brokers and the loss adjusters.
